Ethical Sourcing
HOW WE SOURCE OUR HAIR MATTERS TO US.
Here at Beauty Industry Group, we are committed to ensuring our products are sourced responsibly and produced ethically. That’s been at the heart of our mission since we started in 2003.

WHERE DOES THE HAIR COME FROM?
The human hair we use is carefully sourced from donors in China and other Asian countries, including India, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Mongolia. Since one donor does not have enough hair to make a full pack of extensions, hair is collected from many donors.
Experienced workers manually sort the hair according to length and quality. The hair is cleaned multiple times, bundled together, dyed and prepped for distribution.
WHY IS ASIAN HAIR USED FOR EXTENSIONS?
Chinese and other Asian hair is great to use for extensions because of its durability and thickness. Beauty Industry Group process is unique because our hair extension experts meticulously sort, brush and wash the hair by hand, carefully guiding each bundle through its precise conditioning and coloring process. Asian hair is able to maintain its quality and beauty even after processing.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE THE QUALITY OF YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS?
Experienced workers manually sort the hair according to length and quality. You can feel this immediately when you pick up our extensions and run your fingers through the hair – the texture, durability, color and consistency of our extensions is much higher than brands without these sourcing standards.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE FAIR PRACTICE AT THE FACTORY?
All factories used by Beauty Industry Group are held to a strict supplier code of conduct and participate in the UN Global Compact of Human Rights.
This means that the factories we source from:
- Prohibit child labor, forced labor and exploitation of minors
- Prohibit coercion, harassment, abuse, and discrimination
- Offer fair compensation, benefits and working hours
- Prevent supply acquisition from prohibited regions
- Are inspected and audited regularly by independent third-party auditors
HOW DOES THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS WORK?
Experienced workers manually sort the hair according to length and quality. The hair is cleaned multiple times, bundled together, dyed and prepped for distribution. After going through extensive quality checks, finished products are shipped to our distribution center in Salt Lake City, UT.
HOW DOES ETHICAL SOURCING AFFECT ME?
When you purchase from us, you can be confident that the hair you’re getting has been hand-selected and hand-crafted and that it has been ethically and responsibly sourced. We sort, brush and wash the hair by hand and we don’t use any harsh chemicals. After the color from the raw hair has been gently lifted and the coloring process is complete (around 2 weeks), the hair is infused with a conditioning treatment to keep moisture in and protect it from fading or losing color.
WHAT OTHER INITIATIVES DOES BEAUTY INDUSTRY GROUP PARTICIPATE IN?
-
Beauty Industry Group supports the philanthropic organization Matter of Trust, whose mission is to help clean polluted water, to divert useful fibers from the waste stream, to provide recycling education and to create green jobs. We provide hair donations which are used to create mats that absorb petrochemicals in storm drains, wells, filtration systems, rivers, and oceans.
-
We also have a 1% pledge that dedicates 1% of profit and 20 hours of each employee’s working year (paid time) through vetted nonprofit organizations. These charities support women, education and climate solutions. It is through our culture of action and philanthropy, as well as our financial commitment to important causes, that we work to make the world a more beautiful place.
